On his initiative, a lot of Cossack winter quarters were created. Some of them were the places of temporary stay, and many have become large settlements. Petrikovka is one of them. The first settlers, showing extraordinary ingenuity and taste, built light loam houses, decorating them with colored clay modeling and different patterns. Moreover, this painting was a single ensemble; sometimes furnace and walls were decorated in different styles, but complementing each other. The main feature of an extraordinary Petrikovsky painting (a unique style of decorative painting) is color saturation. Bright, natural colors, given by nature. And trying as much as possible to make a painting in bright colors, everyone showed his rich spirituality, its colorful spirit world.

But not always Petrikovka was in bright colors. The master, which could inherit their knowledge and skills, died, and in return came a classic Soviet theory - not to stand out. After World War II thanks to a local artist Theodore Pan’ko there was organized a creative union in the village. A Petrykovka Museum, Dnepropetrovsk region.little bit later, "the art has gone to the masses" – there was established a factory "Druzhba", where dozens of recognized masters worked. Their work was evaluated beyond the borders of the USSR. Souvenirs with Petrikovsky painting were the most recognized and valuable gifts abroad.

In the early 90s of last century started to work "Petrikovka" Folk Art Center - the first company, owned by skilled craftsmen. And now more than 40 artists are still working there. A folk arts and crafts museum was created to preserve the tradition and pass to future generations, to show visitors the pride of the village. It recreates the exposure that existed at the factory. And that is especially valuable - here is exhibited the best that could save the history of painting. These are: household items, jewelry, paintings. And, moreover, visitors can not only watch the artists’ work, but try their hand at painting. And of course they are welcome to buy souvenirs of any kind.
