We begin our trip by Golitsin’s Path.
How to get there: from the bus station you go to Shalyapin Street and then along this street you go to the sea to the Green Bay.

Our trip begins from the Green Bay (it received its name because of the color of its water) and continues along a true masterpiece of construction and architecture, with stone steps and sightseeing platforms, from which you can admire the sea, bays, and mountains.

Golitsin’s Path is cut in the Khoba-Kaya Mountain at the height of 30-50 meters above the sea level. It’s length is 5400 m. The path leads to Golitsin’s grotto in which the Prince Golitsin kept bottles of vine. There, on a stone terrace, he treated his guests with wonderful collection vines. In the grotto, there are remains of a stage. In the past, some performances were staged there. There is a legend that the Shalyapin sang there. Even today the grotto hosts music festivals and famous performers.

From the grotto, the path takes us to the Blue Bay and Capchic Cape which is located in 1400 meters away from it. There is a through grotto (its length is 77 m) that connects the Blue Bay and the Light-Blue Bay. The cave served as an unusual banquet hall at the Golitsin’s anniversary.
Here Golitsin’s path is over. From here you can take a narrow abrupt path through a juniper grove to the Czar’s Beach in the Light-Blue Bay or to climb up the Karaul-Oba Mountain from where you get a wonderful view of the whole coastal area from the Meganom Cape in the East to the Ayu-Dag Mountain in the West. Czar’s Beach received its name after the Nicolay I visited Prince Golitsin and then after the official visit the czar and his family bathed on that very beach. Tourists can get to that place by small steamboats and cutters from Novyi Svet and Sudak.

The second point of our trip is Plan of Champagne Vines “Novyi Svet”.
The House of Champagne Vines “Novyi Svet” was founded in 1878 by Prince Leo Golitsin.
Champagne “Novyi Svet” is produced in accordance with the classic French manufacturing technique. Every bottle of the precious beverage is put manually for ripping for at least three years into cellars that have been built under the special direction of Prince Golitsin. The national heritage - Champagne “Novyi Svet” – was added to the world elite back in XIX century after receiving the grand prize at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. Not only the gentry but also the Czar family preferred champagne “Novyi Svet”. It was this very kind of vine that was served at the coronation of the Czar Nicolay II. And today, true connoisseurs can enjoy the luxury of this fine beverage – true champagne.
Address: Sudak, Novyi Svet Village, Shalyapina Street 1.
After visiting the plant, you should definitely see the Museum of History of Vinegrowing and Vinemaking in Novyi Svet Village. L.S. Golitsin was not only a vinemaker but was also kin on vine collecting – at his estate, he has collected a unique collection of vines of XVII-XX centuries. The collection included the most expensive vines from all over the world and the total quantity of the bottles was about 44 thousands. However, the passion for collecting and absence of business acumen soon lead Golitsin to the financial ruining.
The museum was opened in 1978, for the centenary anniversary of the plant. The exhibition is located in the estate of Prince L.S. Golitsin. It includes samples of the plant production, as well as highest prizes received at world exhibitions in different years: approximately 50 medals, several grand prize cups, golden statuette “European Ovation”, and many other things. Unfortunately, there is not much left of the Golitsin collection, and what has been preserved is kept at the vine plant in Massandra.
