Border booking in Ukraine for Euro 2012For Euro 2012 the Ukrainian and Polish customs services introduce a system of advance access of information on the transport that will be crossing the border. It was reported after the general Ukrainian and Polish conference that took place in Lviv, by the head of the Polish customs service, Yatsek Kapitsa.

According to Yatsek Kapitsa, “In case of organized bus transportation, we would like to introduce “border booking”, which means that customs officers will receive the information on busses that transport visitors of Euro-2012 in advance. The information includes the bus registration number, quantity of the passengers, and approximate arrival time to the border” – cites ZAXID.NET.

According to the head of the state customs service of Ukraine, Igor Kaletnik, the system of advance notice has been successfully implemented at the Ukrainian and Polish border. “Ukrainian or Polish customs officers receive the information on the vehicle and its cargo before it actually crosses the border.” He states that “It allows the customs services to combat customs crime effectively.”

Furthermore, Ukrainian and Polish customs services develop a speeded-up way of admission of empty vehicles, which will allow to avoid lines at the border.
