In the centre of Volodarsk-Volynskyi, a small town in Zhitomir region, there is a usual two-storeyd house that is in fact the Museum of precious stone. It was opened in 1951 and was based on a collection created by V. Klochkov and A. Salmanin. Initially the museum was located in another building and moved to a new location in 1992.

The exhibitions of the museum of precious stone occupy five halls. The first hall exhibits various minerals of Ukraine, including local decorative and cladding exhibits. Here you can see various kinds of granites, labradorite, gabbro, and they all surprise you with the variety of textures, colors, and patterns. The hall also has a department of ready-made decorative stone exhibits.
The second hall displays rocks of cave pegmatites, crystals, mineral aggregates and noddle. Displays with quartz crystals always attract visitors, because quartz is considered to be one of the most remarkable minerals. Visitors also love to look at the single large quartz crystal, as well as lunar soil regolith, which was given to the museum by astronauts

The third hall displays the variety of quartz: Maramorosh "diamonds", Brazilian amethyst geodes, and a few others. There is also a selection of scientific and research geological literature.
The fourth hall of the museum is dedicated to samples of cave gems of Volyn pegmatites: topaz and beryl. Here you can see the beauty of pink, blue and colorless single-colored topaz and enjoy the view of the polychrome blue and pink stones. No one can walk past the displays with beryl. Purity, transparency, unique patterns and noble radiance attract the attention of visitors. In this room there also samples of Fedorovsky labrador, jasper, rhodonite, opal, jaspilites, and pyrophyllite schists.

Products from decorative and precious stones are exhibited in the final, fifth hall of the museum. They include morion necklaces, beads made of malachite, jasper, rock crystal, vases of selenite and onyx, candlesticks of mariupolites and rhodonite, jewelry boxes of unakita and obsidian. There is a separate display for products from synthetic materials (garnet, sapphire, turquoise, cubic zircon).
